In the industrial process, the wet part gathers all the washing and attrition steps along with a pre-classification. Then, impurities like heavy minerals present in the product are eliminated. In the next step, a separation of the feldspar from the silica sand is carried out.
A second classification of the silica sand enables to cover a large range of the grain size distributions required by the different markets targeted.
The last step of this wet process part consists in a filtration of all the products to reduce the moisture content before going to a vast storage area, waiting for any other possible posterior treatments.
This intermediary storage area makes possible a thorough and rigorous control of the quality.
The recovery of process waters and the treatment of the clays obtained after the first washing are also a part of the industrial process.
